Melting Pot follow up

First, the Melting Pot is a great special event restaurant! Dinner takes a while, but it’s worth every minute. It was great to go to a nice dinner. It reminded me of the nice steak places we went to as a kid – tall booths, low lighting. But even better than those places, no one that we saw actually brought any kids! And everything we ate was sooooooo good. All in all, a great choice for our anniversary dinner.

Secondly, I didn’t really meet my goals at the Melting Pot. The upside is, I can honestly say I really enjoyed every bite. Well, except for that on piece of cauliflower that I didn’t dip and tried to eat raw. Ugh.

My estimates for calories are below, resulting in a total of 1990.

Cheese course: 475 (Wisconsin Trio cheese, mostly ate veggies)
Salad: 100 (Spinach Mushroom Salad)
Dinner entree: 658 (Signature Selection, cooked in Coq au Vin)
Chocolate course: 417 (Disarrono meltdown, strawberries & bananas)
Wine: 260 (mmmm…Malbec)
Champagne: 80 (gift of the management since it was an anniversary dinner)

So I was awful on my diet, didn’t meet my plan, etc. Ideally, I should have at least turned down the wine, champagne and chocolate course, which would have brought me to around 1230 calories. I think it was worth it though, and I would have been worse if I hadn’t thought about it before hand. And this was a special occasion – my anniversary! A real test will be this afternoon. We have a happy hour at a favorite restaurant that is NOT a special occasion.
